I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of the above Communication from which I gather that my appeal was unsuccessful.
I regret. I also note that the Salary of my post has been increased from £600 to £800 from 1st April, being an increase of 33.33%, but if my personal allowance is not increased to the same level, the real increase to me will be 19.40%.
When officers are invited to state their cases in writing to the Salaries Commission, I replied referring to the despatches in which the Salary of the Senior Accountant, Supt. of Stores, Correspondence Clerk, etc., under the revised scheme for the post I held at £600 Grade, were suggested to be not less than three officers under the revised scheme.
On being called before the Commission, the Chairman assured me that my case had been favourably considered. I was aware that the recommendations of the Commission are subject to revision by the Governor and Secretary of State, but I mention the matter in case their recommendations have been unintentionally overlooked.
So far as the Colonial Office is concerned, I earnestly request that the special personal allowance of £70, which I have drawn hitherto, be re-considered under the revised scheme as the despatches on the subject set forth, distinct and apart from Salary, the pensionable allowance, as granted to continue until further notice.
